Born in the historic city of Istanbul in the year 1970, Dr. Evcimen embarked on his academic journey in Mathematics Engineering at Yıldız Technical University. Following his master's degree in Organization and Business Policy, awarded by Istanbul University in 1997, he commenced his doctoral studies at Marmara University's Department of Management and Organization. By 2002, he had earned the prestigious title of Doctor of Philosophy, having explored the intricacies of managing organizational dualities and paradoxes in his thesis.
The year 2003 marked Dr. Evcimen's involvement with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where he delved into entrepreneurship development and business life research. His academic contributions extended to guest lectures at notable institutions such as Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University, and the Air Force Academy, where he imparted knowledge on organizational creativity, innovation, business management, and entrepreneurship at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His academic interests, notably in strategic management, entrepreneurship, and the theory of research, led to his engagement in strategy innovation programs for senior executives within the executive development unit of Sabancı University.
Dr. Evcimen's foray into the professional realm began in informatics, assuming pivotal roles in system analysis, design, and software development, inclusive of international projects. From 1997, he served as a management consultant at Arama Participatory Management Consulting, contributing to strategic and innovative initiatives across more than 100 consulting projects for Turkey's premier companies spanning 24 industries. In 2023, Dr. Evcimen joined Sabancı University as the Director of the Action Research and Transformation Program, marking a new chapter in his illustrious career.
2006 witnessed Dr. Evcimen's venture into the world of photography, building on his foundation in oil painting to explore a myriad of photographic genres. His commitment to excellence saw him participating in workshops and masterclasses with the Magnum Photos school, collaborating with global masters and undertaking photographic projects across continents.
Dr. Evcimen's unique photographic perspective, enriched by his diverse background in engineering, mathematics, the social sciences, and the arts, investigates themes of identity, place, and memory through a transmedia and transdisciplinary lens, offering a contemporary approach to postmodern historiography. His work, featured in IZ Magazine and lauded by Ara Güler, notably includes the acclaimed project "Stone," showcased at the Bursa Fotofest in 2018.
